MUMBAI: Bollywood’s most affable heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor chose to get tech-crazy at the launch of BlackBerry’s latest smartphone Z10, in Mumbai yesterday.

The handsome ‘Saawariya’ and ‘Rockstar’ caused quite a flutter as he navigated the murky waters of technology at the Blackberry smartphone launch. The phone has been launched in India nearly a month after its global release, and Ranbir chose to speak about his not-so-tech-savvy side at the event.

Looking dapper in a dark blue suit and a crisp white shirt, Ranbir was the cynosure of all eyes at the event. The few ladies in the audience couldn’t quite keep their eyes off the good-looking Kapoor scion, and were seen swooning as he took to the stage.

The actor confessed that he is not too tech-savvy, and that’s why he feels too shy to go on social networking sites like Twitter. “It (BlackBerry) is way beyond any social networking site. I be close to my loved one’s through texting and Blackberry messenger. I’m too shy to be on twitter, right now I’m happy with my phone,” Ranbir said.

Ranbir played the perfect brand ambassador, when he said, “I truly believe that I must sell things that I believe in. I endorse quality products and use them personally,”

In other news, Ranbir is equally overjoyed that the Indian-origin film ‘Life of Pi’, directed by Ang Lee has won big at the Oscars. Ranbir graciously said, “He has made truly good films. He has always made films close to his culture; it’s not that from China he has made film for the western audiences. He has consistently tried to make films with good storyline and character.”

Ranbir Kapoor’s last film ‘Barfi!’ was being considered for the Oscars, but it didn’t make it past the nomination stage. Asked if he was even a tad upset about it, Ranbir says, “There is no reason to this; I believe if you make good films and have engaging stories there is no one to stop you. If I talk about Barfi! if it didn’t make it to the Oscars doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good film. There are films from all over the world but only five are taken. Maybe this time we were not good enough, we will keep trying. I’m sure one day all five foreign films nominated in the Oscars will be from our film industry.”
