Salman Khan made an appearance in the City Civil Session court this morning in connection with the 2002 accident case. The Bollywood superstar faces the charges of running over his Toyota Land Cruiser on people sleeping on a footpath outside a bakery in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one and injuring four others, twelve years ago.
Earlier this month, three eyewitnesses had testified before the court and identified the actor.
Seems like the Dabangg Khan has invited more trouble after the fourth witness in the 2002 hit-and-run case has identified the actor. A steward, working in a bar of a five star hotel identified the superstar in the court. He told the court that Salman Khan along with some friends had visited the bar a few hours before the accident involving the superstar had occurred on Hill Road, Bandra on the night of September 28, 2002.
The waiter, Molay Baug, told Judge D W Deshpande that he had served cocktails and Bacardi (White Rum) to the group who had come along with Salman to ‘Zen Bar‘ in J W Marriot hotel, but could not remember whether the actor had consumed drinks. “The lights were dim and it was dark and hence I could not see who had consumed liquor. All that I remember is that I had served drinks to this group which had come with Salman.
Salman Khan, was present for the hearing held on May 6, during which one of the survivors claimed that the actor was so drunk on the night of the accident that he fell down, then got up and ran away from the accident site.
The witness, who was injured in the accident, had claimed that he saw Salman getting out from the right side of the Toyota Land Cruiser, he exited from the car in a drunk state and escaped from the mishap site. But the actor’s lawyers have argued for nearly a decade that he was not at the wheel.
The court hearing went on for a good hour-and-a half after which the court was adjourned till tomorrow.
Salman was accompanied by his sisters Alvira Agnihotri and Arpita Khan. His manager Reshma Shetty, his friend Pippy aka Prashant and his loyal bodyguard Shera were also seen accompanying him.
So far, 17 witnesses have been examined in connection with the 12-year-old case.
In December, a Mumbai court ordered a fresh trial for Salman Khan, who is accused now of culpable homicide in the hit-and-run case and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
