MUMBAI: Birthday boy Karan Johar, who turned a year older on Saturday, was treated to an intimate party for his Bollywood friends, hosted by his good friend Aarti Shetty, over the weekend. And he was caught bonding with none other than best friend Shah Rukh Khan’s rival Aamir Khan!

A far cry from last year’s star studded bash, when he turned the big four-oh, this time around Karan kept it simple and casual, inviting only the closest of his friends from the industry. Of course, being Karan Johar, that in itself means a sizeable population of B-town!

Spotted at the party were Karan’s best friends of many years: designer Manish Malhotra, actresses Kajol and Karisma Kapur. Rumoured couple Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were seen arriving with Ayan Mukherjee, while Ranbir’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ co-star Deepika Padukone entered solo.

However, Padukone’s present rumoured beau Ranveer Singh too was there at the party, as were superstars Akshay Kumar and his ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again’ co-star Imran Khan.

While his best friend Shah Rukh Khan was away in Hyderabad, shooting for the last leg of his rom com ‘Chennai Express’, Karan managed to bond with SRK’s longtime professional rival Aamir Khan. However, SRK’s wife Gauri Khan did put in an appearance, to wish the birthday boy.

Karan’s ‘SOTY’ trio was incomplete, as Alia Bhatt was away in Kashmir, shooting for Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’. However, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra made up for her absence, by showing up to ring in the birthday of their mentor.

The birthday boy, KJo, kept it casual in a black fitted leather jacket, jeans and wore his trademark pout as an accessory.
