MUMBAI: Bollywood filmmaker Ekta Kapoor’s next ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ starring Emraan Hashmi, Konkona Sen, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi is set to release on April 18. And the team has begun the promotions, full throttle.

Emraan Hashmi along with Huma and Ekta was spotted at Lucknow promoting their film. The cast were welcomed at the airport with girls dressed as ‘daayans’, with white make-up and long plaits.

Ekta Kapoor could not contain her excitement as she spoke of visiting the world famous Kumbh Mela, “It’s the largest ever religious congregation in the world which happens once in so many years. And since my movie deals with the occult and supernatural things, I thought this would be the best opportunity to seek blessings for the film as well as my own self.”

Emraan who’s new to the experience, says, “I have never been to any Kumbh and when Ekta suggested we go, I was like, let’s go NOW. The whole world is talking about it and it’s such a blend of so many religions and culture, I’m sure it’ll be a very enriching experience.”

The ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ team stayed in tents at the Parmarth Ashram, situated on the banks of the river Ganga. We hear that Ekta and Huma even took part in Mahayagya for ‘Daayan Mukti’, to calm the negative spirits. After seeking blessings for their film, the entire team took a boat ride to the Sangam Delta for a Holy Dip (Shahi Snaan).

Ekta, who even managed to take Sunny Leone recently to the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai, is a firm believer of the existence of supernatural elements. Says the filmmaker, “We can’t completely ignore such things. Hota toh kuchch zaroor hai (Certainly there is something out there).”

But Emraan can’t decide whether he believes in the supernatural or not. Explained the actor, “I am somewhere in between when it comes to believing in ghosts and daayans, but I would say a daayan is the extreme negative side of a woman, who is otherwise a very caring and loving being. So, you could say I have seen both sides of a woman, in real life.”
