MUMBAI: We had recently reported that Yash Raj Films sent out feelers that they would not be completing the last song remaining to be shot, in the wake of Yash Chopra’s sudden death.
Reliable sources have confirmed that Yash Chopra’s swan song for ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ won’t be shot at all. The soft love-infused number which the Eternal Romantic was to capture in his favourite Alpine environment of Switzerland was postponed after Yash Chopra fell ill.
The official announcement at the time of the postponement was that the song which was scheduled to be shot in Switrzerland in the last week of October, would be shot “later”. But now one hears the number won’t be shot at all.
Says the reliable source, “No one wants to touch a single frame of the film. ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ has acquired a new significance now. Agreed that even earlier Aditya Chopra was overseeing the romantic portions of the film. And in all probability he would’ve accompanied his father to the Swiss locale where the song was to be shot. But now with Yashji gone, adding anything in his absence seems inappropriate.”
It is reliably learnt that the last song would now be completely scrapped.
Adds the source, “Without Yashji’s presence, adding anything to ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ would amount to tampering with his vision. Besides the film’s release is less than a month away. So the song won’t be shot at all.”
While it’s too early to comment on how greatly the death of its master-creator would impact ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, there is information that the entire profile of the film’s marketing would change “The three stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma would definitely put their heads together to ensure that the film proves a suitable send-off to Yash Chopra,” a source from Yashraj informs somberly, adding that the atmosphere at the cremation on Monday afternoon was “very restrained and dignified”.
Apparently Mrs Pam Chopra remained in control of her emotions. Sadly, no one from Yash Chopra’s brother B R Chopra’s family was present at the cremation since B R Chopra’s son Ravi, lies critically ill.
