Blockbuster Malayalam film Munnariyippu is continuing to garner positive response on a global scale. After being nominated for Chicago International Film Festival and Indian Panorama of International Film Festival in 2014, Mammootty’s critically acclaimed film Munnariyippu has joined the race by entering the Moscow International Film Festival this year.
Actor Mammootty achieved a much needed comeback through his outstanding performance in the film where everyone was of an opinion that he brought the film to a whole another level with his acting and subdued mannerisms. Mammootty received many actors for the film including the Asianet Film Award for Best Actor. Actress Aparna Gopinath also garnered attention for her role in the film as a supporting actress.
Munnariyippu is the story of an ex-convict CK Raghavan who faces the outside world after serving his jail term. Upon his exit from the jail, Raghavan finds himself in a position where a lot of journalists are interested to know more about his life story and in that process, journalist Anjali Arakkal meets him and helps him with his autobiography. The mystery thriller drama is bound to leave the audience shocked at its climax.
Directed by Venu, the film has been produced by Ranjith and stars actors Mammootty, Aparna Gopinath, Nedumudi Venu, Prathap Pothan, Renji Panicker and Joy Mathew amongst others. The film also has a special appearance by actor Prithviraj who plays the role of actress Aparna’s fiancé in the film. Released in August 2014, Munnariyippu fared well at the box office as well.
