MUMBAI: It was a very energetic week for Bollywood. And while the lull over the few weeks due to the rains seems to have faded away, stars were back at events, launches promoting films and more. Good we finally saw some action. A sneak-peak into the Top Moments this week.
Daddy’s Li’l Girl Breaks Down: Priyanka Chopra just recently lost her father Dr. Ashok Chopra suffering from cancer. In spite of the tough emotional loss the actress is going through, Priyanka Chopra was back to training hard for the ‘Mary Kom’ biopic to be helmed by Omang Kumar. While she was working out and trying to move on, she just could not control her emotions and broke down during the film’s mahurat. She had placed a picture of her dad clad in the Army uniform and paid her respects. But at the mahurat, the actress got too emotional and could not hold back her tears until her mother had to come and pacify her. You have battled a huge loss Priyanka Chopra. It will take time for things to get back to normal but we laud your efforts to get back to work.
John Plays Basketball With Mom: Cool Dude John Abraham played loving son to mother Firoza Irani and helped her realize her much cherished dream of playing basketball. The actor as a part of the Thank You Mom initiative not just spent some time with his Parsi mom, but also played basketball with her. It surely was a surprise for Firoza Irani and an emotional moment to play her most cherished sport with her son. Also she realised her dream of taking basketball coaching from her own son. Family Time!
Sonam-Farhan Share Space With Milkha Singh: Several movies have been made on sports and sporting legends and the recent to join the bandwagon is the biopic on Milkha Singh – ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.’ While it’s not always that sporting legends come for movie events, it was great to see the ‘Flying Sikh’ a.k.a Milkha Singh, present at the trailer launch of ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ along with the stars of the film, Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor and the director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The sporting legend apparently has sold his story to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for just Rs 1. While the trailer launch was a delayed affair, and when a reporter asked Farhan the reason for the delay stating the fact that Farhan has imbibed all qualities of Milkha Singh then why not the punctuality, Farhan Akhtar was gracious enough to pass the baton to Milkha Singh and blame him for the delay. Atithi Devo Bhavo (Guest Is God), have you heard this term before Farhan Akhtar? We are sure you have not.
Sooraj Pancholi’s Bail Denied: Well we wonder how long the poor lad Sooraj Pancholi has to spend time behind the bars. The actor’s bail plea has been yet again rejected by the Mumbai Police. The actor now has spent close to two weeks in prison and was arrested in connection with Jiah Khan’s suicide. The police want more time to gain evidence, but Sooraj Pancholi surely seems to having the worst phase of his life. The next hearing is scheduled for 27 June. While parents, Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab have come out strongly saying Sooraj Pancholi is innocent, Jiah Khan’s mother Rabiya Khan seems to be playing spoilsport.
Stars And Exotic Music: The week saw Priyanka Chopra release her single ‘Exotic’ along with Pitbull. While the song somehow leaked on the internet, the actress was happy about the song reaching her fans and tweeted about it. Another news breaking is that Shah Rukh Khan is all set to appear in a Marathi music video ‘Saavli’ to be composed by Shekhar Ravijani of Vishal-Shekhar fame. The actor has spoken Tamil in ‘Ra.One’ and Konkani in ‘Josh’. It would be great to see him hum some desi Marathi lines as well. Meanwhile his song ‘One Two Three’ from ‘Chennai Express’ has released where he is seen dancing alongside south star Priyamani. This one’s sure to be the next item song after the Munni’s, Sheila’s and Fevicols. Time for some desi moves baby!
With a mixture of good-bad moments, this was a busy week for Bollywood. At the movies ‘Fukrey’ has been going strong but has been overpowered by ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, which continues to rule the roost. ‘Rannjhana’ featuring Dhanush in his Bollywood debut and Sonam Kapoor received lukewarm response on the opening day. Let’s see whether the fortunes manage to change over the week. Until next time…
