Touted to be India’s “first war comedy”, ‘War Chhod Na Yaar’ is a tongue-in-cheek look at sensitive equations between two countries.

Based on the border, with Soha Ali Khan playing a reporter covering the live action, ‘War Chhod Na Yaar’ takes the humorous route to depict the war between India and Pakistan. Written and directed by debutante director Faraz Haider, ‘War Chhod Na Yaar’ is reportedly a situational comedy, dealing with Indo-Pak conflict.

The trailer opens with Sharman Joshi encouraging his troops to blow up the enemy to smithereens. Across the border, Sanjay Mishra, who plays a Pakistani General, makes a joke with his soldiers about their gleaming new uniforms, while Javed Jaffrey arrives on a camel.

The humour is very sleek and not at all slapstick. The filmmaker has seemingly attempted to create an intelligent comedy, about the occupational hazards of being in a war-zone.

Haider, who assisted Dibakar Banerjee on ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye’ seems to have emulated the latter’s style, and created a crisp comedy.

Produced by AOPL Entertainment, ‘War Chhod Na Yaar’ starring Soha Ali Khan, Sharman Joshi, Dalip Tahil and Javed Jaffrey, releases on 11 October.
