MUMBAI: Back in 2006, director Ram Gopal Varma may have hit bull’s eye with his crime film ‘Satya’. In 2013 though, the sequel to this wildly successful film entitled ‘Satya 2’ has proved to be a complete washout on Day 1 at the Box Office.
Released just a week after superhero ‘Krrish 3’ (which is still currently dominating the Box Office), ‘Satya 2’ opened to extremely dull occupancy rates of barely 5 to 8%.
Starring Sharvanand, Mahesh Thakur, Puneet Singh Ratn, Mrunal Jain, Anaika Soti and released on Friday November 8, 2013, ‘Satya 2’ collected a disastrous Rs 4.2 million (Rs 42 lacs) net on Day 1.
In 2006, when there were fewer theaters, multiplexes had not mushroomed all over the metropolitans – RGV’s ‘Satya’ had managed to garner a terrific Rs 150 million (Rs 15 crore) at the Box Office.
With such a dull opening response, we doubt ‘Satya 2’ can even hope to touch this figure in its lifetime business.
