Imran Khan made his debut in the year 2008 with Aamir Khan Productions’ Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, which was a runaway success. One thought that Imram has arrived but what followed was a series of critical and commercial failures and he was written off as a ‘one film wonder boy’.
Once again Aamir Khan Productions gave Imran Khan a lease of life in 2011 with Delhi Belly, the film that rocked at the Box Office. In the same year YRF’s Mere Brother Ki Dulhan also did well at the Box Office, but the entire credit went to Katrina Kaif, then Ali Zafar and finally people spoke about Imran.
Year 2012 was once again not a very good year for him and he had only one release, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu which didn’t perform well at the Box Office. Year 2013 has been a non starter for him with flops like Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara.
Come November 22, 2013, Punit Malhotra’s Gori Tere Pyaar Mein starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan is ready for release. Now, if this film does not do anything at the Box Office, it’s convenient to label this boy as an ‘Aamir Khan Product’. Imran’s unassuming charm, fails to really create an emotional connect with audiences.
Imran Khan has often been compared to his uncle Aamir Khan, and he describes him as a major influence on his life, by teaching him that a person can learn from their mistakes.
Now, how Gori Tere Pyaar Mein performs at the Box Office will decide the fate of Imran Khan.
