Suchitra Sen Put On Ventilator Support, Condition Deteriorates

Veteran actor Suchitra Sen is very critical and her condition is deteriorating. After consulting her daughter Moon Moon Sen she was put on non-invasive ventilation on Friday, January 03, 2014.

“We consulted her daughter Moon Moon Sen and the chest specialists and our team before putting her on non-invasive ventilator support. We thought that a ventilator support at this point, without any further delay, would be beneficial,” informed the Critical Care Specialist Subrata Maitra.

Undergoing treatment for a chest infection at Belle Vue Clinic since December 23, 2103 Sen was on Sunday night taken to the CCU after her condition deteriorated and the heartbeat became irregular as she suffered a severe bout of breathlessness.

The medical team that has been formed for her treatment decided to put her on non-invasive ventilation after consultation with specialists from outside the Belle Vue Clinic. She was admitted with a lung infection that is yet to be cured.

According to the doctors, such bouts of breathlessness cannot be ruled out till the lung infection goes. But they are hopeful that she will recover till her general health parameters are fine. Sen had a severe respiratory problem this morning.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee made a visit to the hospital to know about Sen’s condition from the hospital authorities. Later, the CM said that she didn’t make any attempt to meet the actor respecting her privacy.

Sushita Sen has been one of the Iconic personalities particularly when it comes to Bengali Cinema.

Rama Dasgupta or Suchitra Sen as we all know started her career with the Bengali film Shesh Kothaay in 1952She went on to receive a National Award for her performance in the 1955 Devdas, which was her first Hind Film. She is also the first Indian actress to be awarded at an international film festival Best Actress Award for Saptapadi in the year 1963 at the Moscow Film Festival. Saptapadi also starred Uttam Kumar, Chhabi Biswas and Chaya Debi.
