Is Salman Khan Copying Aamir Khan?

DHOOM4No, we don’t mean to kickstart another “War of Worlds” or “War of the Khans”, so to speak. But we were left wondering if Bollywood’s beefy superstar Salman Khan really is trying to copy his more cerebral, intellectual counterpart…

Fret not. Nothing is final as of yet, but if the makers of the blockbuster cult Dhoom franchise have their way, we may just see Salman Khan going the Aamir Khan way.

There is buzz doing the rounds in Bollywood, that Salman Khan will be approached to play the villain in the super hit Dhoom series, in their next adaptation – Dhoom 4. If that were to happen, it would only supplement the theory that the baddies in the Dhoom series keep getting bigger and bigger!

The first installment saw John Abraham essaying the negative character, while the light-eyed handsome superstar Hrithik Roshan played baddie in Dhoom 2. Most recently, the dirty job went to Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3, and everyone knows what a great decision that was!

Dhoom 3 has gone on to become one of the biggest superhits of all time, and has established the Dhoom franchise as the most successful Bollywood film franchise ever.

Dhoom 3 did a business of over Rs 500 crore worldwide, so post this phenomenal success, Yash Raj Films is considering adding another feather to their cap, and making a fourth installment in this uber money-spinning series. And who better to cement and increase the popularity of the franchise than the Box Office King Salman Khan himself!

It will be interesting to see Salman play the role of a villain, considering he has never essayed an out-and-out negative role in his career.

At the most, his character in his 2003 film Tere Naam had shades of grey. But Khan has famously proclaimed he is uncomfortable portraying such roles on-screen, and perhaps this is why he turned down Baazigar in the 1990’s; a film that eventually landed in arch rival Shah Rukh Khan’s lap and made him a superstar!
