MUMBAI: Compact Disc India (CDI) has signed a $20.15 million deal with Hollywood production company Motion Pixel Corporation (MPC) for co-producing a 90-minute, 3D animation film called GoaaaaaL! based on Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo.
CDI will do the complete animation production and post production work related to the film in their studio at Chennai for Motion Pixel Corporation over a one-year period. GoaaaaaL will be using real life sports heroes and celebrities and creating their cartoon versions.
The company also expects the film to achieve revenues via merchandising of dolls, soccor balls, T-shirts and kids energy drinks.
GoaaaaaL! is a story about the aspirations of a young girl who dreams to become a soccer world champion. The film is expected to be released worldwide during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
The movie will feature the lead voice-over role by Academy Award winning actor Ben Kingsley. Other international artists likely to lend their voices for the film are Catherine Zeta Jones, Micheal Douglas, Marisa Tomie, Christina Aquilera, Josh Duhamel and Samuel L Jackson. Besides these artists, GoaaaaaL has signed football star Ronaldo.
The film has been written by M. Guerrier with an estimated budget of $ 20.15 Million, is slated to be released during the first half of 2009.
CDI is currently working on 2D and 3D animation outsourcing projects worth $40 million, including a six episode television series funded by Malaysian Debt Ventures. The company is also jointly producing an international animation film Hustle Bustle with Singapore’s Interactive Creative Media for $12.45 million.
Earlier this month, Motion Pixel Corporation had also entered into a five film animation deal with Pritish Nandy Communications.
