MUMBAI: Arena Animation Academy recently organised ‘Perspectives: A seminar on Animation’ in New Delhi, which was attended by 2200 people.
The seminar aimed to bring together professionals from the animation community on a common platform to share their knowledge, thoughts, views and experiences of the animation industry with the students, which would enable them to think beyond the obvious and get an insight into the career options within animation, VFX and gaming.
A host of animation industry professionals attended the symposium. These included Rhythm & Hues’ Subhajit Sarkar, who spoke on ‘Need for Specialization’; Artery Animation & FX’s Yunus Bukhari, who spoke on ‘Animation & Digital Technology – Its importance & Future in India’; Fusion Toons’ Swati Gupta, who spoke on ‘2D classical Animation & Advertising’, ASIFA’s Uma, who showcased ‘International Student Films’ and D Q Entertainment’s Siddhartha Vasudeva, who spoke on the pre-requisites for entering the animation industry and avenues therein.
The seminar was inaugurated by Arena Animation operations head (West and North) Salil Desai.

A common message from all speakers was that the ‘fundamentals that needed to be focused on’ and the field was all about passion and hard work. The speakers also enlightened the student audience by informing them about the many kinds of career opportunities that existed in animation and how people who could not draw could also be part of the ecosystem in different specialized roles.
