MUMBAI; After winning 15 awards from over 60 film festivals around the world, Vanaja will begin its theatrical run in the United States on 31 August, when it opens in New York City at Cinema Village.
Winning more film festival awards than any other Indian film in 2007, the coming-of-age drama about a teenage girl in rural South India will then open in Los Angeles on 14 September and will debut in Boston, Detroit, and Austin on 21 September. Vanaja will continue to expand with openings in San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta, and other cities.
The film also won the Best Feature Debut award at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival and has done the rounds of festivals in Australia, China, South Africa, Norway, Chile, France, Egypt, and Thailand.
