Munna Bhai actor Sanjay Dutt, had recently faced a problem for overstaying his furlough. The state’s jail administration had decided to take action against him, according to the provisions of the prison manual for overstaying his furlough.
Yesterday, Maharashtra home minister Ram Shinde informed, that four more days would be added to Sanjay Dutt’s jail term.
Home minister Ram Shinde said “A departmental inquiry would be ordered against erring prison officials and action would be taken against them for the delay in deciding the extension of furlough,”
Shinde also said that the jail authorities need the clarity for the jail manual and accordingly changes would be done during the next legislature session.
Four days are added to his jail term to compensate for the extra time he spent out of jail. Actor Sanjay Dutt is serving his sentence after being convicted in the 1993 Bombay Blasts Case for illegal possession of weapons.
Sanjay Dutt has already been on Furlough before many times. He has spent over 118 days out of jail, either on parole or furlough between May 2013 and May 2014. He has already served 18 months of his five-year jail term.
