Salman Khan’s defence team on Friday said that, it shows there were four people inside the vehicle and Ashok Singh was on the driver’s seat at the time of accident.
The defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade in his final argument before Judge D W Deshpande of the Mumbai session’s court said that witness’s statement shows that Salman Khan was not driving the car on September 28, 2002. He also challenged the statement of police constable Ravindra Patil, the bodyguard who had filed the first complaint.
Defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade also said that Ravindra Patil’s evidence had been brought up at the fag end of the trial to create injustice against the accused.
He also alleged that during the statements going against prosecution theory, some of them were purposely not included in the charge sheet and selected witnesses were brought in the court.
In his final arguments he also stated that statement of Yogesh Kadam, the staffer who took charge of Salman’s car while it was in the parking lot of the J.W. Marriot Hotel was not recorded. He said he was the strong evidence, which would have proved everything.
Also one more evidence was Salman Khan’s car tag that was used for the parking at the hotel. The parking tag would have shown details like the car number, the name of the driver, and the name of the valet and that of the person handing the car back. However, that was not produced in the court by the prosecution.
The argument by the defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade will continue on April 15, while prosecution will submit its argument in written on April 13.
