Warner Bros Sound Acquires Digital Cinema New York

Warner Bros Cover PicAfter a two-year relationship with the studio, Warner Bros. Sound has acquired Digital Cinema New York. WB Sounds is currently working on number of changes in its newly acquired Digital Cinema facility to align it with the Burbank and London locations that will be complimented by this latest addition. WB Sounds is an essential part of Warner Bros. Entertainment’s postproduction services.

The company has purchased the entire building of the DCNY facility to enable offering services to third party clients on a larger basis. The changes made to the facility include additional eight sound designs and picture editing suites. WB Sounds started working from the DCNY base since May 2013 and have now expanded their reach by acquiring the entire facility.

Warner Bros. SVP Post Production Services worldwide, Kim Waugh eagerly commented on the latest acquisition and future plans of the company. He stated, “As the industry moves to a broader consolidation of picture and sound, Warner Bros. continues to expand and develop the full scope of our post production services. The volume of production in and around the New York area grows more and more robust, and we are fully committed to creatively serving the increasingly greater needs of the community.”

President of the worldwide studio facilities of Warner Bros. Entertainment, Jon Gilbert is of an opinion that the acquisition represents their overall expansion of the postproduction services offered by the production house. He further added, “We are pleased to meet our clients’ needs wherever they prefer to post their productions – between the greater Los Angeles, New York, and London areas, we’re truly able to creatively serve the industry at a global level.”

Oscar winning sound supervisor Skip Lievsay who was awarded for his work in the film Gravityheads WB Sound NYC. In the recent past they have worked in films like Into the WoodsRikki and the FlashFamily FangMiles Ahead, and Run All Night amongst others. DCNY’s creative will continue to work within WB’s administration but head executives Bill Marino and Ken Hahn will remain at the parent sound facility Sync Sound formed in 1984.
