The much talked about movie Son of Sardaar is a real story based on the Battle of Saragarhi which was fought on September 12, 1897, by 21 Sikhs of the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment. There has been much debate and discussion about the making of the film. The directors and producers apparently first decided to cast Sanjay Dutt in the lead role, but due to unavoidable circumstances that plan had to be cancelled.
The source close to the production team reported that yes they wanted Sanjay Dutt for the lead, but then he was jailed and it was not a good option to push the making process further. It would have taken a long time for Sanju Baba to get in shape for the role, and after training another year or so would have to be spent into making the sets and other directional purposes. Our next best choice was Ajay Devgn and hence we offered him the role.

“Need ur best wishes for Son Of Sardaar, will match the scale of Hollywood war film 300 and based on epic Battle of Saragarhi. Diwali 2017.” This tweet on August 19 from Ajay Devgn finally confirmed that yes the deal was complete and we will see him in the lead role of “Sons of Sardaar”.
For Sanjay Dutt, there is still hope because as per reports after PK, Raju has got himself involved completely on his next project, which is Sanjay Dutt’s biopic. This is the first time he would be working on a biopic. Although he has known Sanju for years and knows a lot about him, it’s difficult to depict the same on big screen. Once Munna Bhai actor is out, he will soon start the shooting for his upcoming film OMG-Oh My God sequel, directed by Umesh Shukla and also for Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. sequel with Arshad Warsi.
