Mumbai: Shoot On Sight Producer Aron Govil will donate a portion of the profits from the UK release of the film to the London bombings victims’ Memorial.

On 7 July 2005, four suicide bombers, all British Muslims, blew themselves up in London underground, killing 52 innocent victims and injuring more than 700 others. This was the deadliest attack on London since World War II. A permanent steel columns memorial is planned for the victims that will be erected in the Hyde Park in Central London.

"We will donate a portion of the profits from the UK release of the film to the victims Memorial," said Govil. "Whilst not directly about the events of 7 July, the film obviously deals with incredibly sensitive issues and we are very mindful that the families are still grieving, it is important to look at the climate within which Londoners now live and work and have been forced to deal with an ongoing basis," he continued.

Shoot on Sight is the first film to tackle the issue of suicide bombings on UK soil from homegrown terrorists linked to fundamentalist Islam and re-enacts the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes who is replaced with a young Muslim. The plot moves to focus on a London police commander Tariq Ali who is inspired by real life Tarique Ghaffur and the film raises important questions about the climate of fear post 7/7 and the direct impact of that terrible day.

Filmed entirely on location in London, Shoot on Sight is directed by Jagmohan Mundhra, who was living in London at the time of the 7/7 terrorist attacks. Mundhra found that life and the way he was perceived by Londoners had completely changed and was struck by how even the most basic of everyday routines had been irrevocably altered.

The film’s star cast includes Brian Cox, Greta Scacchi, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Ralph Ineson, Gulshan Grover, Laila Rouass and Sadie Frost.

The movie will be released in 100 UK cinemas nationwide on 22 August.
