Excel rides on Slumdog success; releases Danny Boyle movies on DVD

MUMBAI: With Danny Boyle’s latest acclaimed venture Slumdog Millionaire being on an award-winning spree, including best director to give it a push in the race for Oscars; Excel Home Videos has launched some of his earlier films on home video.

The DVDs include Beach, Sci-Fi adventure, Sunshine and horror thriller, 28 Days Later.

Boyle began his career in theatre as deputy director of the Royal Court in the 1980’s. His first feature film Shallow Grave (1993), a low-budget cynical thriller was an instant success. His next venture Trainspotting (1996), which was a box-office hit in the UK and a cult hit in the US, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screen play and firmly positioned him on Hollywood’s radar.

The DVDs released by Excel are priced at Rs 499 and will have special features like director’s commentary, deleted scenes, cast & crew, music video, storyboards and theatrical trailer.
