MUMBAI: Singh is Kinng has been nominated in the Best Foreign Language film category at the RAAM Awards, which are scheduled to be held in February in London.
The movie will be contending for the award along with Spanish film El Orfanato (The Orphanage).
The RAAM Awards enjoy a unique position within the UK and Ireland cinema sector. These awards provide an opportunity for UK and Irish exhibitors, distributors and industry suppliers to recognize and reward success and achievement across all parts of the cinema industry.
It also brings to notice the fact that though the cumulative gross of the film in the UK (GBP £ 1.355 million) places it at No.2 on the Top 10 Indian Films of 2008, the print average (given its 70 print release) actually catapults it to the No.1 position. Singh is Kinng released in cinemas on 08.08.08 and managed a print average of £ 19,357.
Studio 18 head UK and Europe Tanuj Garg says, "The nomination is an endorsement of our passion and marketing and distribution strength that has resulted in our films consistently excelling at the box office. With Singh Is Kinng, we created an industry benchmark for the others to emulate and gave Akshay Kumar his biggest ever hit in his two-decade long career."
