MUMBAI: UTV Software Communications co-founder member and executive director Deven Khote will soon be directing his first feature film tentatively titled Film City. The movie will be produced by UTV Motion Pictures.
It is scheduled to go on floors in April for a 50 day start to finish shooting schedule. “The film is set in a locality outside a studio like film city, where spot boys, stunt men and camera assistants reside. It’s a slice of life and fun film. It is not moralistic and does not show the dark side of the film industry,” Khote tells Businessofcinema.com.
Actor John Abraham will play himself in the film.
“The film has a completely new cast for which we have auditioned for six months. Some of these actors have worked in theatre and TV before,” says UTV COO production Alpana Mishra. The film is written by Sharat Katariya and has music by Ram Sampat.
In the past, Khote has directed many ad films for brands like Hindustan Lever, Pepsi and Coke commercials with Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai respectively. “This is my first feature film, so I did not want to start with something spectacular. This film is very intimate and its characters are mostly people who I have come across in my life,” adds Khote.
