McCann Erickson wins big at Mirchi KAAN Awards

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM felicitated some of the best radio commercials heard across FM Radio in 2008 at the 6th Mirchi KAAN Awards today. 750 entries from the creative agencies across the country competed for top honours in 15 categories. The theme for the 6th Mirchi KAAN Awards was “Vote against Mediocrity”. McCann Erickson was adjudged the “Agency of the Year” for its creativity in radio advertising.

The Crystal Award for the most exceptional Radio Commercial of the Year was won by DDB Mudra for Islamic Research Foundation’s ad Bush. Incidentally, this same commercial won a bronze at the prestigious One Show in New York earlier this week.

Initiated in 2004 by Radio Mirchi, the Mirchi KAAN Awards are the only recognition of its kind to honour creative excellence in radio advertising in India.

The Client of the Year award was won by Chlormint – Perfetti Van Mele; Chlormint & Chlormint Fresh Fills. Musica won the Production House of the Year and Akshay Kapnadak – Chevrolet Aveo (Puff Daddy) was the Voice of the Year. Copywriter of the Year was won by Ronnie Desai & Babu from McCann Erickson. A special award for the Child voice of the year was won by Vidit Mishra for the ad of popular Hindi newspaper Hindustan.
