MUMBAI: Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision’s Luck, which is distributed by Studio 18, has had net collections of Rs 120 million (Rs 12 crore) in its opening weekend in India.
While the movie opened to approximately 70 per cent occupancy in single screens across Bombay, Maharashtra, Bihar, Delhi, UP, Orissa, Rajasthan, Nizam and Gujarat on Friday; the opening in multiplexes was average.
In the overseas, Luck, which opened in the UAE on Thursday, collected 2.8 lakh Dirhams on Day 1. On the other hand, in the UK, the movie opened at No.11 in the UK Top 15 and grossed approximately £87,000 from 35 locations generating a location average of £2,200.
The movie stars Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa, Imran Khan, Ravi Kissen, Shruti K. Haasan, Rati Agnihotri and Chitrashi Rawat. It was released in India with 976 prints (343 physical and 633 digital) across 1150 screens. In the overseas, Luck released with 134 prints on 150 screens.
On the other hand, Hollywood film Night at the Museum 2, which was released by Fox Star Studios, grossed Rs 23 million (Rs 2.3 crore) across India in its opening weekend, with Maharshtra contributing Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore).
The movie stars Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Robin Williams and Eugene Levy.
