MUMBAI: Times are changing and so is Abhishek Bachchan. The actor who has been managing the offices of AB Corp for some time now is ready to release his first film as a co-producer. Paa will release on 4 December.
The Junior Bachchan has been busy shooting for two films all the year around and now its time for the dividends to count. His first release of the year will be a co-production of AB Corp and Mad Films, directed by R. Balki. His second, directed by Mani Ratnam is still being shot.
AB is currently shooting in the Malshej Ghats of Maharastra for the last schedule of Raavana. Post his return in the first week of October, the actor shall start work with one director he has always admired, Ashutosh Gowarikar. Speaking to Businessofcinema.com Abhishek said, "Ashutosh is a great director and I have always enjoyed watching his films. He is a story teller and he weaves the audience into the spell of his story telling." The shooting for the film, which is titled Chittagong Uprising, will start in November and go on till December.
Rohan Sippy is the next director who will get to shoot with Abhishek. Breaking away from the routine, Rohan Sippy’s film has no heroine cast opposite the actor. Sippy says, "I am still working on the script and adding little nuances, I will only talk about it when I’m ready to go on floors." Bachchan is expected to simultaneously shoot for this film along with Chittagong Uprising.
Excel Entertainment will forge a new working relationship with the Bachchans with Abhinay Deo’s Crooked. Head honcho of Excel Entertainment, Ritesh Sidhwani confirms, "The shooting will commence from 4 January, it will be a long schedule and will be shot at various locations abroad. And Abhishek Bachchan will have his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan cast opposite him."
Abhishek has also agreed to do Abbas Mustan’s next as well as a film with Anees Baazme.
Abhishek has been ensconced in Malshej Ghats for a good two weeks now, and with poor network facilities, was unavailable to comment on his films in hand.
After the debacle of Drona last year, 2009 and 2010 has an interesting line up of films for Abhishek . One expects the box office to appreciate his efforts with the first of the lot, Paa.
