MUMBAI: Amar Chitra Katha (ACK) Media have forayed into the home video business.
ACK Media entered the space with the launch of four titles namely Tales of Shivaji, Birbal the Wise, Hanuman to the Rescue and the Pandavas in Hiding under the brand of Amar Chitra Katha Animated Series.
This was followed by the launch of four titles under the brand Tinkle Junior targeting kids’ edutainment segment with Ask About Animal series, which has fun with learning.
ACK Media has partnered with Landmark, Crossword, Odyssey, Reliance Retail, Oxford, Planet M, Music World and all major stores across India. Their products are also available in online portals.
With a string of launches in different price bands, ACK Media expects to reach around 1000 stores in 20 cities by the end of June 2010. The company plans to launch 75 new titles, which would include a strong catalogue of more than 20 Amar Chitra Katha Animated Titles by the end of 2010.
"There was a big need of quality Indian content at the just right price band in the home video market, which is flooded with a lot of foreign heroes and foreign content. We could identify that gap. We have a lot of content in the form of Amar Chitra Katha books and we plan to take and convert them into high quality animation," said ACK Media CEO and founder Samir Patil.
