MUMBAI: Balaji Motion Pictures’ Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (OUATIM) has taken a decent opening at the box office. The movie has done a net business of Rs 59 million (Rs 5.98 crore) on its opening day (Friday) in India.
As was earlier reported by Businessofcinema.com, OUATIM picked up towards the evening on Friday and the advance booking for the weekend was also looking up. The movie’s performance was better in cities across the states of Maharastra and Gujarat.
The region-wise breakup of the movie’s net box office collections available with Businessofcinema.com is as follows:
North (Delhi, UP, East Punjab): Rs 1.60 crore
West (Mumbai & Thane, North Karnataka, Goa, Saurashtra, Gujarat): Rs 2.62 crore
Central (Rajasthan, CP, CI): Rs 70 lakhs
South (Nizam, Mysore, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka): Rs 64 lakhs
East (West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Orrisa): Rs 41 lakhs
TOTAL: Rs 5.98 crore
Going by the positive word of mouth, OUATIM is expected to perform better on Saturday and Sunday.
On the other hand, the Akshay Kumar starrer Khatta Meetha, which released last week has done a net business of approximately Rs 310 million (Rs 31 crore) in its first week run at the Indian box office.
