MUMBAI: Lata Mangeshkar has lent her voice to Zeenat Aman after almost 32 years. Mangeshkar did playback vocals for Aman 32 years ago, in songs like Panna Ki Tamanna, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Main Na Bhoolungi to name a few.
Mangeshkar, who has kept her singing exclusive these days, has sung the title track of Dunno Y… Naa Jaane Kyun, which will be picturised on Aman. She will be singing after four years. The last time she sang for Yash Chopra’s Veer Zara, Rang De Basanti and then Page 3, besides a bhajan album.
Dunno Y… Naa Jaane Kyun, directed by Sanjay Shara, marks the return of Aman on the silver screen and will also see the yesteryear actress Helen doing a jig in the film, besides playing Aman’s mother-in-law.
Music director Nikhil Kamat said, "It was like my dream come true. The night before the recording I just couldn’t sleep out of sheer excitement. I kept humming the notes in my mind thinking that I should not goof up anything while recording with Lataji."
Sharma said, "When we mentioned to her that the film stars Zeenat Aman, Helen and Rituparna she was very happy because she likes to be a part of project which gives importance to women. She also mentioned about her favorite tracks which she has sung for Helen and Zeenat."
The last time all three came together was in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don in 1978. Aman played the lead role, Helen played her sister-in-law while Mangeshkar play backed for Aman.
Dunno Y… Naa Jaane Kyun also stars Yuvraaj Parashar, Kapil Sharma, Maradona Rebello and Rituparna Sengupta.
