MUMBAI: Jhootha Hi Sahi has proved to be the saving grace at the box office this week, since the three new Hindi releases this week – Daayen Ya Baahen, Maalik Ek and Nakshatra opened to empty houses.
The occupancy for all the three were as good as nil at one – two per cent. Even though Jhootha Hi Sahi has not done too well, it’s likely to remain the leader at multiplexes this week, while single screens will screen Vivek Oberoi’s Rakht Charitra and Mallika Sherawat’s Hisss for another week.
Hopes are now flying high on the two big Diwali releases, Action Replayy and Golmaal 3, which will hit the screens on 5 November. After a series of flops at the box office in October, these two movies are highly anticipated.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshay Kumar starrer Action Replayy is a retro film based on a Gujarati play and is directed by Vipul Shah. While Golmaal 3 is a comedy and the third of the popular Golmaal series and stars Mithun Chakraborty, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu. The film is directed by Rohit Shetty.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, PVR Cinemas programming head Prakhar Joshi said, “The three new releases this week are a disaster! We are all looking forward to Action Replayy and Golmaal 3. Both these films are super hot because of the kind of curiosity the audience already has about the film. The advance booking is all sold out.”
Both Action Replayy and Golmaal 3 will be releasing across 1300 to 1400 screens each across the country.
