MUMBAI: Fox Star Studios reboot in the Apes saga – Rise of the Planet of the Apes has made a record of sorts with an opening weekend collection of Rs 59 million (Rs 5.9 crore), despite not releasing in a majority of multiplexes.

The James Franco – Freida Pinto visual effects extravaganza has received a bumper opening in not just English, but all regional languages – Hindi, Tamil and Telegu.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Rupert Wyatt.
