MUMBAI: Yash Raj Film’s ‘Ishaqzaade’, directed by Habib Faisal has done very well in its opening weekend. Gauging the box-office figures, the launch of one-movie old Parineeti Chopra and newcomer Arjun Kapoor has been very successful.
‘Ishaqzaade’ opened this friday with approximately Rs 50 million (Rs 5 crore) net. Saturday was consistent, and Sunday saw a good response, bringing the three day total in the range of Rs 157.5 million (Rs 15.75 crore) net. The story of ‘Ishaqzaade’ is based on a small town in Uttar Pradesh, and thus the film has done best in U.P region.
Meanwhile Reliance Entertainment’s ‘Dangerous Ishhq’, directed by Vikram Bhatt, starring Karisma Kapoor, took a very poor start on Friday collecting approximately Rs 12.5 million (Rs 1.25 crore) net. Even the weekend saw a sluggish trend with the three day total figure being the range of Rs 38 million (Rs 3.8 crore) net. With bad reviews, there is not much hope for any notable rise of business for ‘Dangerous Ishhq’.
