Could the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan – Yash Chopra collaboration, Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ), be the most eagerly anticipated film of all time? Going by the numbers, it sure seems to be the case.
JTHJ has generated tremendous buzz in the industry, what with it being rumored to be the virtuoso filmmaker and Chopra patriarch, Yashji’s finale as a director.
The first full-length trailer of the film generated a massive 3.3 million views in just one week (as seen on YRF’s official YouTube channel) and 30,000 likes on YouTube, beating even that of the worldwide phenomenon “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2”.
It is the most shared Indian film trailer ever on social networking sites, and with the first song of the film garnering a colossal 525,551 hits on YouTube (when this article was published), making it the “most frequently viewed” video on YouTube.
The film has created a lot of excitement in trade circles as well, with most trade pundits expecting it to do “record-tod” business, quite literally! Even real pundits seem to be jumping into the fray and adding fuel to the prophetic fire!
Astro-numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi predicted that “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, could be the biggest blockbuster of all time.
“Yashji will now enter the 81st year of his life which indicates a great phase for him – full of happiness, celebration and rejoice – both on the work as well as personal front,” The Times of India quoted Bhavikk as saying.
“His Diwali bonanza for his fans ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ made under his directorial baton will set the box office ablaze and surpass the lifetime collections of all previous blockbuster movies (including some made under his own banner),” Bhavikk said.
What remains to be seen is if the film can live up to the hype it has generated so far, and if this premature anticipation will translate into serious numbers at the ticket windows and Box Office.
Will this thrilling prelude culminate into a happy ending for the film’s makers and cast, will the film set the cash registers ringing, and will the producers get the best Diwali present they could have ever hoped for from their adoring fans?
Most likely, the answer is a resounding, thundering YES!
Could the “Baadshah of Bollywood”, SRK, carve out a new Sultanate to reign over? A 300-Crore club perhaps? Jab Tak Hai Jaan is directed by Yash Chopra, a YRF Film; stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
The movie is set for a Diwali release on November 13th.
