MUMBAI: After getting a taste of the action genre, Bollywood sensation Katrina Kaif wants to do all her stunts herself! The leggy lass first experimented with action sequences in Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ while playing undercover agent Zoya.
Now for her upcoming Yash Raj production ‘Dhoom 3’ and the Hindi remake of Hollywood flick – Tom Cruise starrer ‘Knight and Day’, Katrina is all set to perform her own stunts.
For her, the challenge is exciting. “The stunts in ETT were exciting… I had not done something like this before. I have to admit that action is challenging.”
Katrina Kaif is considered to be among the most bankable female stars of Bollywood, so it is only fitting that she is pushing the envelope.
In fact, Katrina was recently likened to Julia Roberts, one of her most favorite Hollywood stars. “It feels wonderful to be compared to Julia Roberts…” says Katrina simultaneously emphasizing that nothing is more important that audience acceptance. “It’s very flattering and overwhelming to have the constant love and support of your fans. And that’s what has always been important to me. I think it’s the audiences who have to actually come and see your films,” says Katrina.
Hence, it’s not surprising that the actress is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that she does not have to use a single body double for any of her sequences – including an underwater fight scene for ‘Dhoom 3’.
For both ‘Dhoom 3’ and the remake of ‘Knight and Day’, she is learning acrobatics and will undergo pre-shoot training.
“Katrina trained hard for the action sequences in ‘ETT’. Now, she is looking to push the envelope and attempt more complex stunts. Besides, KND will have action scenes of Hollywood standard, which is novel for a Bollywood actor,” a source has revealed.
To ensure that the standard of the action sequences are at par with Hollywood, stunt co-ordinators Robert Alonzo, David Rowden, Gregg Smrz and Ronn Surels will be are flying down next in December itself – a few months before the film shooting begins.
