MUMBAI: Whatever perfectionist actor and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan does, he does it in style. Whenever his film releases, however infrequent that may be, the entire film industry flocks in large droves to support their favourite “thinking star”.
And with the man’s latest release, suspense thriller ‘Talaash’, the story was no different. Bollywood was there in almost its entirety, with all the biggest names in attendance at the celebrity studded premiere.
Right from yesteryear megastars like Prem Chopra, Dilip Kumar with wife Saira Banu, Randhir Kapoor, all the way down to Aamir’s contemporary actors like Anil Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Sharman Joshi, to the youngsters like Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma; they all took time off from their hectic schedules to catch ‘Talaash’.
The man of the hour, Aamir “perfection” Khan chose to go casual at this informal, relaxed chic event.
The actor donned a blue printed sweater with khakhi trousers and his trademark, adorable impish grin. His hair spiked and coiffed, he looked not a day older than 25. His co-star in the film, Rani Mukerji chose an elegant white and blue anarkali ensemble, and completed her simplistic look with silver pumps and blue earrings.
The other female lead of the film, Kareena Kapoor Khan, was conspicuous by her absence.
Aamir’s khaandaan too, was present at the joyous occasion. His lovely wife Kiran Rao chose black leather pants, an olive green shirt and kitten heels as her outfit for the night.
The film’s creative team, director Reema Kagti was spotted in a dotted sweatshirt and trousers, in line with her casual, laid-back appeal. Co-producer, unassuming but handsome Riteish Sidhwani was also present, wearing a white tee and jeans.
Producer Farhan Akhtar was in his ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ avatar; long hair in a tight ponytail, a beard and a casual tee with jeans. His wife Adhuna sported a bright yellow ganji with a cream wrap and matching loose fitted pants.
Zoya Akhtar too came along, and was seen in a grey singlet, electric blue dhoti pants and a cream blazer. We like!
Aamir’s previous film’s directors, Ashutosh Gowarikar and Raju Hirani too showed up for the premiere, both colour co-ordinated in blue jeans and a white shirt.
Kunal Kohli, Prasoon Joshi, Sanjay and Zarine Khan, Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut and Chunky Pandey were also guests at the premiere.
With so many movie-dom celebrities under one roof, it was sure to be a reunion of sorts. Amidst all this revelry, almost everyone present at the premiere unanimously gave the film a thumbs up.
The film has also received fabulous reviews from several film critics and the audience reactions will most certainly be positive.
Undoubtedly, the film’s heroine Rani Mukerji sums up the phenomenon that is Aamir Khan, most aptly. “What I am telling everyone that when Aamir says yes to a film, it means something.
It pretty much reiterates the fact that even today a good story has a value attached to it. At times we don’t think that such films could feature mainstream actors. However when Aamir signs it, you are assured that there is a room for filmmakers to come forward with a different story. When someone of his caliber also believes in ‘Talaash’, it is indeed saying something.”
She signs off with, “Audience is the final judge and whatever be the results, I liked what I was doing in the film. There was a lot of fun during songs & dances and moreover audience too appreciated what I did on screen. That’s good too.”
