Vidya Balan’s Wedding: Simple, Solemn, Sacred

Mixing both their cultures, Vidya and Siddharth entered into the holy union with a small tamil and punjabi ceremony at the Green Mile bungalow in Bandra.

[imagebrowser id=236] MUMBAI: Finally Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has become Mrs. Siddharth Roy Kapur! The couple, who have been dating for close to two years now (albeit regularly denying the same) tied the sacred knot 14 December morning.

Simple, solemn, and secluded. That’s how Vidya Balan got hitched!

Mixing both their cultures, Vidya and Siddharth entered into the holy union with a small tamil and punjabi ceremony at the Green Mile bungalow in Bandra.

The bride, Vidya Balan looked absolutely goddess-like in her scarlet red silk kanjeevaram saree, completely traditional in its look. Three heavy necklaces with a south Indian feel finished her bridal attire.

Did we expect her to go the glamorous, sequined and heavily embellished way? Definitely not. Understatement is surely Vidya’s statement.

Siddharth took cue and donned a ‘haldi’ yellow kurta churidar with white thread work. The couple was glowing as they exchanged garlands amidst chants.

The guests once again included only close friends and family members. Vidya Balan’s parents Saraswathy and P R Balan, and Siddharth’s younger brother – actor Kunal Roy Kapur with his son were spotted by our shutterbugs. We hear that all the arrangement right from the ‘sangeet’ to the reception have been made under the supervision of Vidya’s sister Priya and brother-in-law Kedar.

No one from Bollywood (with the exception of veteran actreess Rekha) was invited to any ceremonies previously. Vidya and Siddharth will be sending out sweets to all.

Reportedly, Vidya now as a wife will wear the toe-rings traditional to newly wed Tamil brides. She will also carry the south Indian mangalsutra called thaali, a woven yellow thread with small photographs of Lord Balaji and his consort Ambana.

Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Love Saga:
The couple met on the sets of ‘No One Killed Jessica’ in 2010 being produced by Siddharth’s UTV. The duo vehemently denied any association, but were seen cozying up in Goa in beginning of 2011.

Siddharth and Vidya finally brought it out into the open in 2012 at Karan Johar’s 40th birthday extravaganza. This year Siddharth reportedly bought Vidya a Rs 14 crore flat in suburban Mumbai facing the sea.

The wedding festivities kick started on 11 December with a private ‘sangeet’ party, and a small mehndi party on 12 December.

Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur now plan to host a reception in Chennai.
