MUMBAI: All you ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ fans have reason to rejoice! Producer Vinay Kumar Sinha has confirmed that the long-awaited sequel to the 1994 super hit comedy, starring Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, will go on the floors by the end of this year.
Vinay Kumar Sinha has already roped in the director of the original installment, Rajkumar Santoshi, to helm the ambitious project, and he has readily agreed. Santoshi will most likely start pre-production work once he is done with his under-production film ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’, which stars Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz.
As regards casting, producer Vinay Kumar says that it is yet to be finalised, though they are trying to get at least part of the original cast on board, including the two super hit leading men.
Kumar recently stated, “We will be discussing the project with Aamir and Salman. It would be great if that works out. Otherwise, we’ll sign up some other actors to play the lead.”
In this age of remakes and sequels, Kumar said that it was only time they revisited this cult classic film. “People were asking me to do a sequel ever since the film became a hit. At that time, I was not too sure, if the Indian audience is ready for a second part. But, now the time is ripe. Remakes and sequels are in vogue.”
Sources also indicate that Ram Mirchandani, co-producer of 2012 sleeper comedy hit ‘Vicky Donor’, has been roped in to head up the production unit for the film.
