MUMBAI: Theatrical actor Akshay Kumar was spotted in Mumbai (again!), inagurating a spanking new theatre in the suburbs.
The ‘Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Again’ star was seen looking rugged and macho, as he cut the ribbon for PVR’s new theatre in Andheri. Wearing a green checked shirt and jeans, Akshay looked every bit the superstar he is today. Also seen at the theatre launch was CMD PVR Ajay Bijli.
Akshay has also been in the news for his alleged standoff with the King of Bollywood aka Shah Rukh Khan, whose film ‘Chennai Express’ is to release on the same day as ‘Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Again’. The two superstars will allegedly battle it out in the run-up to the releases, and will leave no stone unturned in ensuring their film is promoted and marketed to the hilt.
Dealing with two different plot lines altogether, ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Again’ will release in August. While the former is a typical masala film by comedy-action man Rohit Shetty, the latter is a sequel to the 2010 super hit ‘Once Upon a Time In Mumbai’, which was about the underworld.
‘Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Again’ too is nestled in the same genre, with Akshay playing a gangster and Imran Khan playing his nemesis. The film also stars Sonakshi Sinha.
Akshay recently said about his role as Shoaib, the gangster, “It is not based on any such character. I play this character of Shoaib who is an underworld don, it is a fictional thing. It is not related to anyone in real. It is continuation of part one.”
“I had seen Shoaib’s character in first part and I did carry the character forward,” he added.
