MUMBAI: It is said that Bollywood actresses can never be friends. However, yesteryear superstars Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla challenged the old adage last evening, when they united to promote their upcoming film ‘Gulaab Gang’ in Mumbai.
A press meet for ‘Gulaab Gang’ was scheduled at Taj Lands’ End, where the two powerhouse performers set the stage ablaze with their combined radiance. Madhuri and Juhi entered the venue together, and displayed a rare camaraderie and elegance, and were extremely cordial to one another.
Madhuri plays the role of Sampat Pal, a real-life activist who fights against injustices meted out to women. Juhi plays a negative character in the film, but was extremely bubbly and positive at the press meet, speaking about her role and why she chose to do the film.
The duo was spotted with their ‘Gulaab Gang’ director Anubhav Sinha, as they launched the ‘Believe’ campaign, to celebrate and honour the triumphs of women.
Madhuri chose a simple green asymmetrical top and skinny jeans, while Juhi was clad in an elegant sunshine yellow kurti and white trousers. Very age appropriate, yet stunning!
Madhuri even managed to share an anecdote about how people said she wouldn’t be able to make it big in Bollywood.
“Being a woman you always go through something or the other. When I made my debut in Bollywood, many people told me I can’t do, it’s not a good place, I can’t make my position in this industry. But that time I had faith in myself and worked and proved everyone what can I do,” she said.
