‘A’ Certificate For The Bold ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’

Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’ receives an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification.

MUMBAI: Bollywood director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s upcoming film ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’, a sequel to the 2011 hit film ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster’ has received an ‘A’ certificate from the CBFC.

The first installment of the romantic thriller drama film was heavy on sexual content, while reports say that the sequel is much more sobered up. Starring Jimmy Shergill, Mahie Gill, Irrfan Khan and Soha Ali Khan, the makers of the film were not expecting an ‘A’ from the board.

Disheartened with the board’s decision, actress Soha Ali Khan said, “I’d watched ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster’ and had found it pretty bold. The sexual content was a bit heavy in that one. However, Tigmanshu had told us that he was toning the bold content down. We did not want an ‘A’ certificate for the film, but it’s annoying that the film ended up receiving an ‘A’. There’s a lot of sensuality in the film, but without sex.”

She went ahead and said the characters in themselves make the film bold, “Bold, is something that makes a statement. Kissing or sex – all of that is not necessarily bold. In this film, there are characters who are solid and bold.”

Mahie Gill, who plays the role of ‘the Biwi’ in the film, showcases a very strong woman on a path of self-destruction.

“She is ready to destroy anybody who comes in her way. In terms of content, ‘Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster Returns’ is an extremely bold film,” adds Soha.

‘Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster Returns’ is set to hit the screens on March 8, 2013.
