Aamir Khan Prod’s Peepli Live selected at Sundance Festival

MUMBAI: Aamir Khan Productions’ upcoming film Peepli Live has been selected at the Sundance Film Festival, in the World Cinema Documentary competition section.

In his status update on the social networking website Facebook, Khan said that this is the "first Indian feature film to make it there."

The movie is directed by Anusha Rizvi and stars Raghubir Yadav, Omkar Das, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shalini Vatsa and Farrukh Jaffer.

Peepli Live is a satirical look at the predicament of a poor farmer who creates a media frenzy when, beset with debt, he announces that he will commits suicide so his family can receive government compensation.

Peepli Live will compete with Peepli Live in in the world cinema narrative competition section. The 2010 Sundance Film Festival will be held from 21 – 31 January in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.

A total of 14 films have been selected this year in the World Cinema Documentary competition section from 1,022 international narrative feature submissions.

Films from other countries like Poland, Australia, New Zealand, Colombia- France-Germany-Peru, UK, Canada, Argentina, Spain, Greenland, Iraq, Bolivia, Estonia and South Korea have been selected to compete in this section.
