Aishwarya Rai’s 40th Birthday: Aaradhya Sings For Mom!

MUMBAI: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the name that spells class, beauty, elegance and success, held a press conference on occasion of her 40th birthday in Mumbai.

Aishwarya looked stunning and radiant wearing a red Abu-Sandeep salwar kameez, which was not a new outfit that she purchased for the ocassion, she maintained!

Aaradhya was the first one to wish the mother at midnight. “Aaradhya sang for me as she sleeps post mindnigh like all of us in the house.  As a mother I was funny fir me because I taught her the song,” said a radiant looking Aishwarya.

When asked about her birthday celebrations, Aishwarya imminently said, “This year, birthday celebrations are Diwali celebrations and that’s the big party at home, that’s the way we are celebrating my birthday.”

Post her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwariya feels that he has become closer to her parents.

“When you go away from your home after you get married, you get more emotional and sensitive. I take this platform to thank my parents for the gift of life they have given to me,” said the star.

Miss World 1994 was in its 44th year, that year marked the third consecutive staging of ‘Miss World’ in Sun City, South Africa and it was this year that Aishwariya won this coveted title and since then has never looked back.

She first hit the big screen journey in 1997 with Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film ‘Iruvar’. Aishwarya made her Bollywood debut with ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’, which released the same year and tanked at the box office leaving the critics cold.

It was much later and after a lot of hard work that she was able to carve a niche for herself in Bollywood and has hits like ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Saman’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Dhoom 2’, ‘Guru’, ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and others to her credit.

In 2004, she did her first international movie, ‘Bride And Prejudice’, directed by Gurinder Chadha. Post that she did films like ‘Mistress of Spices’, ‘Provoked’, ‘The Last Legion’ and last but not the least ‘The Pink Panther 2’.

As a brand ambassador, Aishwarya has been with L’Oreal for almost twelve years now. She’s been interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, David Letterman, has made it on the Time Magazine‘s list of most influential people. She also has a tulip in the Netherlands named after her.

Aishwarya Rai has also been named Goodwill Ambassador for UNAIDS, and will help raise awareness about HIV and AIDS among children. She strongly believes that every baby should be born free from HIV.

Looking back at her journey so far, the actress said, “I never thought I would come so far. My family doesn’t belong to the showbiz and I never dreamt I would ever be here”.
