ASSOCHAM to promote Cannes Film Festival in India

MUMBAI: ASSOCHAM will promote the Cannes Film Festival in India from 2010 onwards.

An MoU to this effect was signed between the Cannes Film Festival Association (CFFA) and ASSOCHAM, wherein the latter will promote the film festival in India.

"The MoU was signed to promote Cannes Film Festival in India from 2010 onwards so that India is able to popularise global film industry in India to variety of its audience," said an official statement from ASSOCHAM.

A meeting to chalk out the plans to promote international films in India is expected to take place in next three months. Additionally, the agreement also intends to promote French films and entertainment industry in India and vice-a-versa.

The venue for the proposed meeting is likely to be New Delhi. The 62nd Cannes Film Festival began yesterday (13 May) in Cannes, France.
