MUMBAI: Baba Arts has acquired a majority stake in Mahadev Productions, producer of Bhojpuri films. They bought over the company by acquiring a 51 per cent stake. Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kissen also a stake in Mahadev Productions.
Baba Arts now also has major expansion plans in other regional cinema across India.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Baba Arts CEO Govardhan Tanwani says, “We have already set up an office in Madras for Tamil films and will be arranging an office in Hyderabad soon. We are going in a big way on the regional front.”
However, he declined to divulge any financial details about this latest development.
Next on their list is exploring the eastern regions of India. Tanwani says, “We will be looking at Bihar and West Bengal too.”
Baba Arts, which last produced Life Main Kabhi Kabhi in 2007, will be rolling out three Hindi films this year. “They will all be big budget films. One will be a Rs 50 crore one along with two of around Rs 30 to Rs 40 crores. We have already signed and sealed the deal with directors, but we can’t reveal anything at this point in time,” states Tanwani.
Tanwani adds that the company will not make medium budget films from this year on. He believes that this year brings about a new challenge for Baba Arts.
