Bejoy is winner of Sony Pix’s Gateway

Mumbai: The winner of Gateway is finally chosen. Bejoy Nambiar, with his well executed and gripping drama, won the jury over and has been declared the receiver of the grand prize — the golden opportunity to direct a Hollywood film.

Bejoy will undergo an intensive eight week internship with Ashok Amritraj and Hyde Park Entertainment in Los Angeles. He will learn the intricacies of both the art and business of filmmaking in Hollywood before directing the Hyde Park Entertainment produced film.

Says Hyde Park Entertainment chairman and CEO Ashok Amritraj, "I am eager to work with Bejoy Nambiar. He is very talented and shows a lot of promise. He truly represents the Indian filmmaker of today with his style and technique. This collaboration with PIX has been an enriching experience for Indian filmmakers as their means to Hollywood have been re-defined!"

Though Bejoy won the battle of convincing the judges Amritraj, Rajat Kapoor and Anurag Basu along with the final guest Santosh Sivan on why his short-films deserved the accolade, all is not lost for runner up Prashant Rasaily. His electrifying Sci-Fi did keep one of the judges on the edge of his seat. Anurag Basu of Gangster and Life in a Metro fame has offered him a chance to direct a Bollywood film.

PIX business head Sunder Aaron concludes by saying, "Under the jury’s tutelage and mentorship the contestant’s awareness and understanding on film making has risen considerably, and the teaching will be put to use no matter where time takes them."
