Bipasha Basu to star in Roland Joffe’s Singularity

MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has bagged her first international film called Singularity, which will be directed by English-French director Roland Joffe. Basu will star opposite Josh Hartnett in the movie.

Basu said, "Very happy to let you all know that am doing my first English language film – Singularity. It’s Rolland Joffe’s film opposite Josh Hartnett."

The film will be shot in Australia and India. Bipasha will be flying to Brisbane in the first week of November and will begin shooting from the third week of November till the last week of December in Brisbane.

Singularity also stars Bollywood actor Abhay Deol besides Hollywood stars Chris Pine, Hartnett, Olga Kurylenko, Christopher Egan and Shane Briant.

The movie will be made on a budget of $33 million and is written by Ajey Jhankar. Singularity is tale of an impossible love set across two time periods and continents. It is set in the backdrop of the First Anglo-Maratha War of the 18th century and revolves around four characters – a British officer in colonial India and the Indian woman he falls in love with, an American marine biologist and his researcher lover — who gets trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship.

Singularity is tentatively slated for release in 2011.
