Box Office: Deepika Padukone’s Piku Fails To Create Expected Thunder

Piku-CoverDeepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer film Piku by director Shoojit Sircar failed to fulfill the expectations at the Box Office. The film opened to a poor start on Friday. However, by the evening, the film managed to reach 40% footfalls on its first day. By the end of the day, Piku managed to mint around Rs. 4.45 crore net (44. 5 million) on its first day at the Box Office.

While the film’s simplicity and deeper message won the audiences, the business however was slow. Deepika’s performance as Piku in the film was loved by the critics, whereas Amitabh and Irrfan succeeded in creating the perfect magic with their talents on the silver screen.  Shoojit Sircar’s film is doing quite well in places like Delhi, Mumbai and Mysore circuit. Compared to Deepika’s Finding Fanny, Piku has done a good business on its first day at the Box Office.

It is expected that Amitabh Bachchan starrer comedy-drama film Piku, will continue to do decent enough business throughout the weekend. Compared to Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, which also released on the same day, Piku is doing far better work at the Box Office and has received positive reviews from the audiences. However, it’s not wrong to say that Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back is likely to grab much of the money away from Piku, even though this will be Gabbar Is Back’s second week at the Box Office.

Piku tells us a story of a head strong, ideal daughter, played by Deepika Padukone and her struggling complicated relationship with her father, played by Amitabh Bachchan. The film also shows us how a cab driver, Irrfan Khan gets caught up in father-daughter’s chaotic journey to Kolkata.
