Box Office First Day Collection: Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Vs Deepika Padukone’s Bajirao Mastani

Dilwale-Vs-Bajirao-Mastani[tps_footer]Bollywood’s biggest clash till date ‘Dilwale VS Bajirao Mastani’ has finished its first day run at the box office with a huge difference in collections. Much like the opening day occupancy of both the films, the first day collections have also not been anywhere near close to each other. While ‘Dilwale’ has managed to gather audience across the country, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is being supported majorly by Maharashtra alone. The first day collections of the films has a difference of almost 45% approximately with ‘Dilwale’ leading the numbers.

‘Dilwale’ has got a collection of Rs. 22 crores net approx on its first day which is a very good number despite the clash with ‘Bajirao Mastani‘. ‘Bajirao Mastani‘ has collected Rs. 12 crores net approx (Rs. 120 million) on its first day at the box office and the number is far less than ‘Dilwale’. Had there been no ‘Dilwale VS Bajirao Mastani‘, that is if the films were released individually on separate dates both the first day amounts would have been higher. ‘Dilwale’ could have easily collected around Rs. 30 crores approx while ‘Bajirao Mastani’ could have had a collection of Rs. 16 crores approx, both of which would have been beneficial for big budget movies like these two.

The great opening rates managed to give a boost to the first day collections. ‘Dilwale’ had first day occupancy of 65% whereas ‘Bajirao Mastani’ only had 30% occupancy rate which is not even 50% of what the competition got. Right from the occupancy rate in ‘Dilwale VS Bajirao Mastani’, the former has been leading.

In the regional distribution of ‘Dilwale VS Bajirao Mastani‘, ‘Dilwale’ has got massive response from South India as well as East India with areas like Andhra, Mysore, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Orissa showing lot of activeness due to the Shah Rukh Khan star factor. Whereas despite having the best screens in UP and Delhi, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ did not entice the audiences there. There were dubbed versions of the film released in Tamil and Telugu but much like every Hindi dubbed film down in South, this experiment was also a disaster.
