BOX OFFICE: ‘The Lunchbox’ Wins Hearts In Opening Weekend

Ritesh Batra’s eagerly awaited little masterpiece, ‘The Lunchbox’ starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui has managed to win over audiences from its very first day at the box office.

MUMBAI: Ritesh Batra’s eagerly awaited little masterpiece, ‘The Lunchbox’ starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui has managed to win over audiences from its very first day at the box office.

Highly acclaimed at several film festivals across the world, including Cannes and Telluride, ‘The Lunchbox’, co-produced by Anurag Kashyap, Sony Pictures, Guneet Monga and presented by Karan Johar, did well on day 1 by collecting approximately Rs 12.5 million (Rs 1.25 crore) net.

The buzz is incredibly positive for ‘The Lunchbox’, the film even having been considered as one of India’s official entry to the Oscars. Critics too have given ‘The Lunchbox’ excellent reviews. On Saturday the film collected about Rs 25 million (Rs 2.50 crore) net, while Sunday jumped up to the range of Rs 32.2 million (Rs 3.22 crore) net. This puts the 3 day total of the film at about Rs 69.7 million (Rs 6.97 crore) net
