Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma’s upcoming production film Phillauri is making tremendous buzz right from the time it was announced. The film has been high on promotions and raised curiosity among the audience over its unique concept. The film will see Anushka Sharma as the spirit “Shashi” and the plot revolving around her story of her lost love. The film is light-hearted laced with subtle humour which works in favour of the film’s setting.
The film has been made on a controlled budget of Rs. 21 crore that includes marketing and distribution. However, the film has already recovered Rs 12 crore through selling satellite and music. As a result, the film now only needs to cover Rs 9 crore from the theatrical revenues and that is possible in the first week of its run, it backed by positive reviews.
Being set in Punjab, Phillauri is expected to witness good numbers in North and then in Mumbai. The film also sees Diljit Dosanjh, who has huge fan following and has a power to pull the audience to the theatres, especially in Punjab.
Phillauri is looking at an opening day number of around Rs. 3-4 crore, which would be a decent start for the film. Anything in this range would be in the favour of the film and once the film receives a positive response, it will witness a good first weekend.
Talking about the film, Anushka is playing a friendly neighbourhood spirit in the movie. The film also stars Suraj Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh in the pivotal roles. Directed by debutant Anshai Lal, written by Anvita Dutt and produced by Fox Star Studios and Clean Slate Films (Anushka’s production banner with brother Karnesh Sharma), Phillauri is set to release worldwide on March 24.
